dude... nice photographs.
You have to teach me some photography when you come back here. By the way, when is that happening?

I need some clarification on "tamil nadu bhavan at delhi"

HEy Teju

Thanks To juggy, i logged in to ur blog right now. I quickly ran through ur posts, and i found them reallyy interesting. Very creative. I patiently read ur film-career post, and it was reallyyy interesting!
But, what really caught my eye were ur 'short stories'. I was stumped when i saw that u, mr. goodlookingguy also writes stories. I cud bet on anythin, they werent the kind of romance novels tat girls of mine wud fashion. But, u proved me wrong again! I read ur 'On the drink' and i literally enjoyed it! Amazinggg.. i really think its magnificent to know sum1 sharin the passion of writing such stories.

hey Sam,

Thanks a ton buddo. I am not a person who could 'teach' photography.... have learnt some basic composition skills, and thatz all :-)
Will share whatever I know though ;-)

I am not sure when I am coming to India, but as of now, the plan is to visit India for three weeks in March.

Many states have their representative houses in Delhi. There is the Andhra House near to Tamil Nadu bhavan, where one can hot hot food. You have a restaurant in Tamil Nadu Bhavan, other than a large hall for conducting specific functions, etc. I believe there might be lodges for Tamilians looking out for homely ambience too...

did that answer the quetion?

So tell me, what inspires u to write short stories? Imagination.. or real life incidents?

Tryin to get some insight into the 'writer's mind'.

I wud also like to know.. if u write them on one sitting.. and then perfect them up later on.. or do u build the story.. day by day.

And yah, hope to see a post cumin up soon...I think the 'Delhi-Bee' wants to retire.. :P

U know .. in all ur stories.. u always have a twist in the end.. which is kind of predictable..(bcause apparently we nosy readers expect more than just a normal story)

But, wat highlights ur style of writing .. is that in the twist u give another twist. Anti-climax thats un-predictable.

Thats why ur stories r worth a read, bcause the build-up is excellent.. and the first wave comes.. but before u can regain.. a second wave comes and knocks u over! Thats the effect of ur stories.:)

Thejas Rajaram said...

I am truly honoured that you have specifically noted my efforts in creating a double twist in the stories. I am an avid fan of O Henry, who is the master of twists. Hence, was musing around about how to go further, and create a double twist ;-)
Thanks for noticing it.

The inspiration to write stories is spontaneous. Some interesting incident, an interesting scene of a movie, or a novel, an interesting character of a movie, or a TV serial.... anything can spark it up.... but, yes, I try to complete the story in one straight shot. :-)
Revisiting it later for refining, and chopping off the unwanted lines works, but if I continue the story another day, the flavour would be different, and a totally different story emerges :-)

Divster said...

Yup, I honestly agree. My views exactly.
Well, i did feel few of those incidents were familiar.. tat which formulatd ur story..(for example the damsel in distress one). But, wat i really enjoyed.. is ur way of visualizing and describing it. See, now tats wat makes it different than the usual plot which might hav inspired u in the first place.

All in all, i felt truly in bliss readin ur stories. I hav read so many novels..(romance novels too). But, i prefer ur short stories better.. cause u dont drag the plot. U kept them concise and so the radiance of the story remains in the reader's mind.

What's another striking thing is.. u use ur main character (hero) to be not of any heroic instincts. One who is subjecting to his fate, a very ordinary everyday kinda man. I like that! it was easy to relat with them. :)

Gosh, i think i m extra-analysing ur stories. U got some more...?(tiny hope of makin me quiet for a while..by givin me sumthin to read.LOL)

Write more.. please :)This time maybe with a lady as the hero..(winks)hehe, kiddin.

Thejas Rajaram said...

I must make this observation, that all your observations strike right facts. ;-)
These are some of the things that I have always borne in mind, while penning the stories. I want to be as concise as possible because, long stories have successfully put people to sleep thro generations, and long drawn TV serials on Doordarshan of the early nineties still play in my nightmares ;-)

Wouldn't I write more..with this kinda encouragement :-)

Lady as the hero??? hmm....Well, haven't tried that out yet........
